My Inspiration: The Goosebumps Clothing Story

Tracy Verboom – Owner/Designer

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my journey.

My designing flare started at a very young age. I remember my childhood days, I would ask mum for old dresses, tableclothes anything I could cut up. I would use her old Singer sewing machine on the dining table and would create funky clothing for my girlfriend and I. As I got older I finished school and had a great experience working for a designing house up the coast. I was thirsty for this new knowledge and was keen to learn some tricks of the trade.

Being young and free I got the taste for travelling. I loved visiting the different countries, saw how they lived, learnt their culture and was inspired by all the colour and design around me.
A few more years passed and I settled down, married my beautiful husband, moved back to Australia and dabbled in design again.

How Goosebumps Clothing evolved, children came along. You join mother groups, bond with new friends. I was talking to a girlfriend and we were discussing the lack of options in stylish discrete maternity and nursing clothes.

As my business grew, my label became known throughout Australia and was featured in many maternity stores and media. I had a friend build a website and I joined the e-commerce world. I began to research different platforms and realised this was a great tool to use. The audience was huge and it was worldwide. International exposure was at your fingertips.
As my 2 beautiful girls grew older this opened doors to a new chapter in my design. Where can you buy good quality clothes at affordable prices? My Goosebumps Clothing children’s range was born. There was no stopping me now. Vintage inspired and all things nice…. A one stop shop offering dresses, accessories such as headbands, sashes, hair clips to cardigans and capes to sandals.

Goosebumps Clothing children’s wear is suitable for flower girl dresses, junior bridesmaids, baptism, first communion, confirmation, photo shoots or just back yard parties. They are so versatile.

For a bride, where do they start? There is so much preparation for their special day. If I can take away some of that stress by helping with decisions on what the flower girls and junior brides maids will wear then I am their go to girl. I can offer advice and service that gives them assurance and confidence in my product and that excites me.
